  1. Good ammo

This is just what I was looking for inexpensive target ammo. Will buy more.

  2. Probably the Last s.S Patrone You Can Find

Posted by Unknown on 14th Nov 2019

As other reviews have stated, this is German manufactured s.S Patrone ammo that has been deprimed and reassembled with new non-corrosive primers. From the research I did, this was originally created for use in the Spanish Civil War (the reason it is sanitized with no headstamp) but later diverted to Romania for use with the Romanian Air Force. From there it was captured by the Soviets where it sat for years until Techcrim went through the remanufacturing process. Goes bang every time.

  3. Would buy again

Fairly accurate and powerful ammo, point of aim pint of impact unlike water downed PPU stuff. However it is harder to work the action after firing this ammunition in a bolt gun, I suppose it is poor quality brass compared to other brass cased 8mm Mauser ammo. Plus, it is unfortunately not reloadable due to being berdan rather than boxer primed. I would recommend buying this if you don't reload, however if you do grab some PPU, shoot it and then reload some hotter stuff using the spend brass.

  4. Great ammo, curious past

I have 2k rounds of this stuff from Ventura, and have discovered it has an unusual past.

Here's what I've concluded after reading a lot of stuff. After WWII, Russia took possession of a huge amount (perhaps 1.5 billion rounds) of German 8 mm ammo. At some point, they went through what sounds like an arduous project of pulling the bullets, scrapping the powder, replacing the primers with dependable (and NC) primers, and reloading with new powder. I don't know if they reused the bullets.

The stuff I have has no headstamp and the primers are staked in. The caliber designation is etched on the side of the case near the base. The cartridges look great.

If anyone has anything to add to this history, please do so.
